I’ve been asked many times, don’t I want to further my education? Get a master degree or something. The truth is I really miss my study years, not that I was good student, but more of the fact that I am forced to read materials that I would not have read otherwise.

I still read - and quite a lot by normal standards. But I only read things that catches my interest. Weird, but I miss the days when I was forced to read stuffs that are not of my interest as I sometime discover one time or another knowledge from those books are put to good use in my life. That is what I miss of my student days.

So the straight answer to the question is: Yes, I’d love to continue. But I’ll wait a bit till my life settles down and insya Allah I’d really love to do a master degree.

The bigger question then would be, in what field? Hmm, that I haven’t really figured out. So many things that interest me. An MBA sounds interesting, but the subjects covered are mostly very practical. I love theories and Econimics sounds nice. After reading Keynes book on General Theory on Money, it makes it even look more interesting. But I’ve always loved Fiqh and Usul Fiqh and Islamic studies in general. A friend of mine recently suggested that I go to Syria and experience the depth of Islamic knowledge there. And I am seriously considering to do so next year: go for a trip of a month or so. May Allah ease the path for me.

So the answer to the question again, yes I do want to continue my education. But no, I seriously don’t know in what field. But whatever it is, I’ll be doing it for the love of reading and studying rather than to land myself a better job.
