Today is the 60th day of my wife and I living without Astro.

“What? No Astro? Then what you do at home? What do you watch? You got the normal channels at home?”

“No, we don’t have the normal tv channels either”

“You serious?”

“Yes”

Well that is about the reaction I get from family and friends when I tell them I don’t have Astro or the normal tv channels at home. And it has been like that for the past 2 months.

So what do I do in place of watching tv? For one I found that I’m actually reading more. And I’m really glad since there so much to read yet so little time to do it. Now I easily have 1 -2 hours to read.

Besides that now I suddwnly have the time to swim. Every evening after gettin back from work I’ll just go down to my apartment’s swimming pool for half hour or forty minute swim.

Of course initially I was dumbfounded of what to do when sitting at the living room. But after while I realized how much time I actually wasted watching tv. Time which could be put to better use like reading and exercising.

“So you don’t watch any tv at all? You going back to the stone age?”

No not really. I do watch some tv programmes, except that I don’t wacth them on Astro. I download the series or movies that I want and watch them on my iMac. That way I save time watching what I like without the ads and I can plan when to watch what I want. My schedule does not have to be tied to Astro’s.

Oh and one added bonus which I think is the best of all - I now have more time to talk with my wife. In the busy life that we lead nowadays, that is something that I really appreciate.

“But what about news? You don’t follow the current events?”

I do. In fact I think I am more up to date then most of my peers. I follow current events with RSS and for real time updates I have my Twitter.

So after 2 months, I don’t think I miss Astro.
